Volker Horch: Nowadays, landline telephony has largely fallen out of use. However, if it is required, it is important to note that in many areas of La Palma it is not possible to obtain a new landline connection. Even in properties that previously had a landline, but where it has since been deactivated, problems may arise because, in general, there are no new numbers available anymore.
Volker Horch: Exactly. If the property already has a landline, the contract can usually be transferred quite easily by requesting a change of ownership directly from the existing telephone line.
Volker Horch: Similarly, access to an internet connection is not available everywhere on the island. However, the expansion of the LTE network in La Palma has progressed quite well, so mobile data connections are becoming increasingly reliable. Fibre broadband connections are also now fairly widespread on the island. In both cases—LTE and fibre broadband—it is always necessary to check individually whether the service is available at the specific property.
