Progress has been made in the preparation of the new General Urban Development Plan (PGO) for the municipality of Los Llanos de Aridane. At the beginning of January, the tender for drafting the new plan was announced. Following completion of the tendering process, the preparation phase is expected to take approximately four years.
This will be followed by the necessary technical implementation measures and the formal approval process by the local council, meaning that the plan is likely to come into force in around five years.
While the new PGO for Los Llanos de Aridane is not yet in force, how can a building permit be obtained?
Only in cases where the construction project is also permissible under the previous PGO from the 1980s. Otherwise, even relatively simple projects—such as extensions, annexes or swimming pools—are currently being carried out without the corresponding building permit, with the risk that such permits may not be granted retrospectively.
